We Have a Winner

Maybe two! I finally got some answers to my last post about the Slayer Sword winning Fellowship of the Ring. Daemonhater from AWC nailed it right on that head. Yes, they are all wearing their elven cloaks, which they did not receive until after Gandalf "died" fighting the Balrog. Very good! Zardag is probably correct as well, but I'm not sure what "vambraces" are.

Either way, you do win a prize. Send your addresses to citizennick75@hotmail.com and shortly thereafter you'll receive a surprise in the mail.

On the painting/ modeling front, I built some mutants this weekend for my Lost and the Damned army. I also did a little painting.

I realized something this weekend. I noticed that the amount of time I'd been painting lately has gone down significantly. At the same time, my desk had been accumulating a ton of non-painting related garbage (mail, newspapers, magazines). I got pretty sick of this and finally cleaned it off this past weekend. After that, I did more painting in two days than I had done in previous week. When my desk is clean, it's a lot easier to just sit down and work on something for ten minutes than to have to spend fifteen minutes cleaning and then get down to work. Lesson here: Clean work area equals productivity.

I'm so dissappointed

Either no one reads my blog or no one can see what is wrong with this Fellowship of the Ring. I'm not saying anything. I'm going to keep hoping that someone is as big as a nerd as me.

Anyway, the rest of the Golden Demon winners are now posted at the Games Workshop site. I've never been a big fan of the work of Joe Orteza, but this Skaven is awesome. My friend Dave also got a honorable mention for this undead pirate.

Also, the final standings for the Chicago Grand Tournament are posted. The only Thousand Sons player in the tournament came in 119 out of 143. Oh well, someday maybe see the TSons in the top ten. Tzeetch bless, Dung Trinh, whoever you are.

How much of a geek are you?

Games Workshop recently posted the pictures of the Chicago Golden Demon Slayer Sword Winner. First, I was surprised that it was a set of Lord of the Rings figures. They're really nicely painted though. After looking at them for a bit, I noticed there was something a little off about them. Can you see it? It's a totally nerdy, nit-picking thing, but if you can see it, you too are a king among nerds.
